Co-option of Councillors

There are currently 2 vacancies on North Tawton Town Council.  This is because there are 12 places on the Council, but we only had 10 candidates in the recent parish/town council elections.  This meant that the 10 applicants were automatically elected.

The Council now has an opportunity to try and fill these vacancies by 'co-option' - inviting applications to become a Town Councillor from qualifying persons.  Qualifying applicants will be invited to make a short presentation to a future meeting of the council, and councillors will vote as to whether to accept or reject candidate's applications.

A copy of the Notice of Vacancies is attached.  Please also refer to the 'Becoming a Parish or Town Councillor' webpage for further information.
